Frequently Asked Questions
-
The consultation is an opportunity to discuss your reasons for seeking therapy and how the therapist can help. It’s also a chance to get a sense of how the interaction feels. If the conversation feels safe, easy, and comfortable, it’s a positive sign to schedule a first session.
-
Before your first session, you’ll complete an intake form that covers medical history, family background, and therapy goals. Share only what you’re comfortable with. This information saves time and guides the first session.
Your therapist will review the form beforehand, so you can focus on exploring your concerns, building rapport, and setting a foundation for therapy. The first session is explorative, centered on understanding your needs and history. Expect empathy, curiosity, and reflective questions. There’s no pressure to solve anything immediately; we’ll move at a pace that feels right for you.
