SCOTT BUCK
MACP
Registered Psychotherapist (RP)
Welcome to Canopy Psychotherapy Centre!
Hi, I’m Scott, a Registered Psychotherapist. I work virtually with individuals (16+) and couples across Ontario, helping clients build resilience, strengthen relationships, and reconnect with a stronger sense of self.
I support people navigating anxiety, depression, identity exploration, and personality-related challenges as well as couples looking to improve communication, rebuild connection, or move through conflict in healthier ways. My approach is grounded in the belief that meaningful change comes from both understanding yourself more deeply and developing practical tools to move forward.
Over the years, I’ve had the privilege of working with diverse and marginalized populations, and I strive to create a space that is inclusive, affirming, and genuinely safe for all clients, including those in the 2SLGBTQI+ community.
Why Work With Me
I offer a warm, supportive space where you can feel genuinely seen, heard, and understood as you navigate life’s challenges. My approach is grounded in collaboration, trust, and deep respect for your autonomy and lived experience. We'll work together to build a safe, nonjudgmental environment where you can explore your thoughts and emotions at a pace that feels right for you. I recognize the influence of social, environmental, and systemic factors on your life and will meet you where you are, with insight, compassion, and steady support along your journey.
I bring a strong clinical foundation to our sessions. I balance empathy with thoughtful challenge, helping you not only feel understood but also gain clarity, build resilience, and make meaningful, lasting changes.
Clients often come to me feeling:
Stuck in patterns of anxiety, overthinking, or emotional overwhelm
Disconnected from themselves or unsure of who they are
Struggling in relationships — whether through conflict, distance, or communication breakdowns
Impacted by past experiences that continue to shape how they feel and relate today
Together, we work to better understand these experiences and find ways forward that feel grounded, empowering, and aligned with who you want to be.
My Approach to Therapy
I tailor therapy to each client, integrating evidence-based and relational approaches:
Person-Centered Therapy: Grounds our work in empathy, authenticity, and meeting you where you are.
Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT): Helps you better understand and work with your emotions, strengthening your relationship with yourself and others.
Developmental Model of Couples Therapy: Supports couples in understanding relationship stages and navigating conflict in ways that deepen connection and intimacy.
Motivational Interviewing: Helps you explore ambivalence and build internal motivation for change in a supportive, non-judgmental way.
Solution-Focused Therapy: Keeps us oriented toward your strengths, goals, and the changes you want to see in your life.
DBT-informed Skills: Offers practical tools for emotion regulation, distress tolerance, and interpersonal effectiveness.
CBT-informed Strategies: Helps identify and shift unhelpful thinking patterns that impact mood and behaviour.
My work is trauma-informed and strengths-based, with a focus on building resilience and helping you move toward a life that feels more balanced, connected, and meaningful.
What to Expect from Sessions
Therapy with me is a balance of understanding and action. Sessions are collaborative, grounded, and paced in a way that feels manageable while still moving you forward.
You can expect to feel heard and supported, while also gaining new perspectives, practical tools, and insight into patterns that may be keeping you stuck. My goal is to help you leave sessions not only feeling understood, but also better equipped to navigate your life with confidence and clarity.

My Journey to Becoming a Therapist
Becoming a therapist was a natural extension of my deep empathy and genuine passion for supporting people through life’s challenges and growth. Through my own healing journey, I’ve come to understand the courage, vulnerability, and persistence that change requires. These experiences shaped not only my appreciation for the complexity of growth, but also my commitment to creating a therapeutic space that truly honours your story. I strive to connect with clients on a genuine human level, supporting you as you navigate challenges, build resilience, and move toward meaningful, lasting change.

Outside of Therapy
Outside of my work, I prioritize activities that help me stay grounded, present, and balanced. I regularly engage in mindfulness practices like meditation and yoga, and I enjoy staying active through strength training and running. I also value connection and creativity — whether that’s spending time with friends, cooking, or unwinding with a good movie. These routines support my own well-being and allow me to show up in the therapy room with clarity, energy, and intention.
Ready to Take the Next Step?
If you’re considering therapy, I’d be glad to connect. Reaching out is often the hardest part and also the first step toward meaningful change.
